Microvision's ultra-miniature Mobile phone full colour projector

The miniature projection display prototype, based on Microvision's proprietary Integrated Photonics Module (IPM), has been developed in collaboration with one of the Company's high volume manufacturing partners to position Microvision to deliver mobile users worldwide a large screen viewing experience inside a thin and sleek portable package.



The image produced by Microvision's display is extremely sharp and vivid whether being projected to view an image the size of a laptop screen or further away to view an image the size of a big screen plasma TV. Currently measuring a slim 8 mm this extremely small display package, about the size of a "thin mint" chocolate candy or the generation two iPod(R) shuffle, has been dramatically miniaturized to 1/10 the size of the company's original prototype shown in June 2006 at the Society for Information Display. The Company and its high volume manufacturing partners will continue to develop this exciting technology into products that are expected to meet very aggressive market requirements for size, power, cost, and performance.

Motorola MOTORIZR Z3 mobile phone Review

Motorola's first Quad-Band GSM slider, the new model features a 2 megapixel camera complete with dedicated shoot button and a host of other features.the phone offers a large 1.9-inch, 176 x 220 TFT 262k colour screen on the front and the usual buttons normally found on a slider. The back offers the 2 megapixel camera, while the slide's relevant buttons like volume and of course that dedicated camera shutter button we mentioned earlier.

Slide the screen upwards - it's double sprung so has a good tactile feel to it like the Samsung D series - and you reveal a flat RAZR-esque keypad that glows the now defacto Motorola blue through the keys.

As usual there is the usal array of software applications including a MP3 player. Supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, AAC+, and AAC+ Enhanced and tracks are either stored on the phone's 20MB memory or the additional Micro SD card (up to 2GB) not included in the box. As with other Motorola models, you will have to remove the case to access the card.

The phone also offers the A2DP Stereo Bluetooth for playback to Bluetooth speakers like those from Parrot.

Nokia promises WiMAX handsets in 2008

Nokia's president and CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo is just doing his keynote speech at Nokia World, and he's just said that the company will bring out WiMAX-enabled handsets in 2008, which would be able to hook into citywide Wi-Fi networks using the technology.

Also, the company predicts that this year alone, 970 million mobiles will be sold globally – this is from all manufacturers, not just Nokia – and that 65% of these are people upgrading to new handsets. Kallasvuo also said that Nokia reckons the number of people with a mobile phone will break the 3 billion mark sometime next year, and will pass 4 billion in 2010.

Other than that, he basically gave an overview of what Nokia is up to, which covered existing announcements (e.g. working with Flickr and the new Music Recommenders community), and an interesting snippet about Mastercard running a trial with Nokia to let people pay for stuff in 32,000 shops by touching their phones to a reader. Oh, and he also said Nokia is seeing the first opportunities to use GPS for photo-sharing, gaming and messaging applications.

Nokia E62 Supports BlackBerry

Rogers Wireless and Nokia have announced that, for the first time in Canada, customers will be able to use a Nokia E62 device with BlackBerry Connect to access BlackBerry wireless services like push-based connectivity, wireless e-mail synchronization and attachment viewing, calendar synchronization, and remote address lookup.

"As Canada's largest wireless voice and data communications services provider, we are thrilled to bring our customers BlackBerry Connect, the most trusted brand for wireless e-mail solutions on the market," said John Boynton, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Rogers Wireless. “Rogers customers will be able to save time by having access to the latest in mobile innovation and e-mail connectivity."

The E62 has a large, 2.8-inch, 320 x 240 pixel LCD, full QWERTY keyboard, and boasts over five-hours of talk time.
